Avast me heartiies!

I read that the SMC hoya filters have no internal thread + therefore you cannot attach the canon lens cap - is this true?

I would like to get the best (Hoya is what's available here) filters for my L lenses but perhaps the HMC will have to be settled for as I am not going to buy extra special lens caps as well to go with the SMCs if that's what they require

I don't mind so much for a circular poloriser where it won'y be permanently on the lens but it is important for the UV which will be

Kindly avail me of thy combined and vast experience :D

I'm only aware of the Hoya Ultra Thin series being single-threaded (threads only on the lens side) because the rings on these are 3mm as opposed to 5mm on their other filters. I use the S-HMC series (which I think is the SMC you're referring to) for most of my lenses and these are double-threaded so I'm able to attach the regular lens caps.

Ah that's a relief!
