I'll be headed to Miami in January for the Super Bowl and I'd like to get a new bag that I can carry my gear and laptop in. I plan on taking my 7D, 70-200, 100-400, 85 and 15.4" MacBook Pro, small external HD and various accessories.

I've been looking at the LowePro 'Compu' series. I'm just not sure I want to spend that much $250-$350.

Anybody have suggestions/experience with a good dual carrier?

Thanks,

Don

I've got a Crumpler Gigolo 9500 (http://crumpler.co.uk/?product=Company_Gigolo_9500_%2F_15%26quot%3B&page=details&product_line=1067) but doesn't fit a normal laptop very nicely unless it's a mac - thankfully you have one so it'd be a good bag for you.

Or Master Delhi (http://crumpler.co.uk/?product=Master_Delhi_770&colour=Dark_Brown_/_Warm_Grey&page=details&product_id=MDE770-002&size=) - Looks smart as hell, but quite pricey.

Don't know if either are available in the US market.

Otherwise Lowepro - Stealth Reporter D650 (http://products.lowepro.com/product/Stealth-Reporter%20D650%20AW,2049.htm) looks pretty good, although it does scream camera bag.

Take a look at the Kata DR-467 (http://www.kata-bags.com/product.asp?Version=Photo&p_Id=401). I had a similar need last summer and picked this one up and been very happy with it. It's a little larger than I initially expected but works extremely well as a combo bag.

I picked mine up from Amazon for $79.95.

If you buy it from B&H right now you get a $25 gift card as well.

I was looking at this one earlier today. I think I'm going to take advantage of Amazon's return policy and order a few and return the ones that don't make the cut.

Thanks,

I have Pelican soft side . I took to Mexico - airport OK . Has wheels and suit case type handle on side .looks like you have a change of clothes inside .
Right now it has my XTI W/17-55 , 35-350 , 50 - 1.8, cleaning kit , 580 II flash / w cable , canon interval timer , misc cards readers , cables , 17 in mac pro , 2 battery chargers for XTI , 8 spare AA's , spare filters [ 3 KSM's , 3 UV's , 3 ND 2's .
There is still room for more .
I generally have camera on my neck - missed too many shots because camera was in bag . I would post a picture but forgot how to reduce size .

I have been very happy with my Tamrac expedition 7x (http://www.tamrac.com/5587.htm). It holds all of my gear and my macbook.

I've got similar requirements. I've heard that the Crumpler 8MDH will hold the 15" MBP although Crumpler states 13" officially. Anyone have pics to corroborate the 15"?

That sounds interesting. If you get a chance, I'd love to see a pic.

Wow, now that's a bag! Is it airplane "travelable"? It looks pretty big.

Yep, the 7x is fine for a plane. I flew cross country last summer and took my 7x plus 2 cameras, lenses. 13" Macbook + charger.

Granted I think TSA changed the rules since I last flew, but as far as I know it should work fine.

On the other hand, it is a huge bag. I actually sold it because I didn't need a bag that size

Here's the picture , Minus the camera [ XTI ] w/ 17-55 . You may notice the little red bag - my 1st aid kit Aspirins , rolaids , alcohol swaps , Idmodium .
There are 3 pouches , the big one holds my 17 in MAC and has a divider for manuals maps etc . The medium pouch has 4 filters in their plastic cases [ flat ] Smaller pouch has batteries , chargers [ batteries for camera , flash and computer. The inside above the main compartment has spare cards , 2 card readers [ firewire 800 and USB 2.0 ] A small Black and Decker 12V to 120 v
The collapsable handle has a little zipper thing that holds the rain cover .
There are spare QR plates [ RRS 4 in , 6 sided bogen and a RC 2 + spare 1/4 and 3/8 screws ]
It has straps for a monopod or a tripod - I use for an umbrella .
Very happy with it . I change / rearrange as needed .
My only complain with it is the top is divided into 2 sections - would prefer 3 .
It's been to Mexico twice , weddings , birthdays , Reno , Las Vegas in car . Still in great shape [ I have had wheel break / fall off other bags - I'm happy with it .

r.morales, thanks for posting that pic. I think I'm definitely leaning toward the Pelican PCS-1552 Soft-Sided Camera System & Laptop Case. Looks like an awesome bag.

Your welcome , there is a camera store about 30 miles away [ keeble & Shuduch - probably spelled both names wrong ] in Palo Alto CA. that probably has a 100 different bags . I went in wanting a donke but after playing with about 8 different ones the Pelican won out .
The store is probably at least 15 % more than web + tax , but something like a bag or tripod , I am willing to pay for the chance to play with / handle / put side by side .

Definitely the Streetwalker HD, easy to travel with, comfortable to carry all day. The Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650 will carry it all but you'll need shoulder replacement surgery after 5 hours, I have one, great for storing my extra gear in when I'm not using it.

Lowepro Computrekker AW is great. Would fit all of the photo gear I imagine (if not, the Computrekker AW Plus is only a little bit more $), 15.4" inch laptop compartment. Front pocket PLENTY big for shirts, light jacket, accessories, etc.
