I am likely to buy a new printer in the coming months and don't want to buy one just prior to the announcement of the inevitable successors to the Pixma8500 and i9900. Has anyone heard any rumors as to when Canon may be ready? Current ones are great, but the next generation will be better of course - and naturally a successor will also result in a price decrease for the replaced ones. ????

Pixma 8500 is very new.. just a few motnhs old.
The I9900 is about 18 months old...

That's all I know.

My camera and my printer are Canons and I intend to stay that way. It seems like longer between new printers than previously (hasn't the 8500 been out for almost a year and the 9900 for over a year?). They are nice machines but it would seem that an improved version of each group should be getting close. About the only thing Epson has on Canon is archival ink superiority - but that is really more significant than some suggest. Photos not behind glass and exposed to air and sunlight should not degrade so rapidly - one shouldn't need to be framing everything. Again, I'm waiting for Canon for sure, but I don't want to pick up an 8500 or 9900 a month before a newbie is released. Any grapevine chatter?
