so i've been watching americas next top model, and during the critiques i've been things like "it looks more men's magazine than high fashion"

does any one have a link or just any insight on what makes the clear and/or subtle differences that makes a pose become "men's magazine?"

i think they were comparing Maxim type photos to Vogue-ish type? The specefic thing in the episode was about the models eyes. The way she had her eyes made it look men's magazine and not high fashion

Was it just one episode or multiple ones? The show is known for doing shoots for a wide range of magazine spreads such as men magazines, women's, high fashion, gay, and random other magazines. The toughest part for those models is to be able to create those wide range of images. The look of Tyra Banks between a Swimsuit shoot for a mens magazine and one for fashion in a women's magazine is totally different. The reason she is so great is because she is capable of making those differences between different shoots. That is a true model, one that can pose for the moment and the situation. Having the same look every time can only get you so far.

But again, that is just my observations and opinions.
