Awesome shot. Only thing is I would like to see a version with more DOF so that the old USAAC roundel is sharper as a comparison to see what works best if you have one.

Thank You

Shot this intentionally semi-shallow to put the emphasis more on the Mustang with the Roundel as a background element.

Probably should have played with the elements more but I was shooting this from practially a prone position to get the angle.

I appreciate the feedback.

Oh don't get me wrong, the shot is awesome the way it is. Just curious how it would look the other way too.

excellent shot, though I would have liked to have seen a bit more prop...

Such a purty plane... it's like the Colt 45, just about perfection.

Like the shot, as usual, Jay, very nice.

Thanks very much Todd...

Per Suggestion, I whipped up a wider landscape version as well and added it below the original.

As you can see, the hangar roof is just a lovely color!

Thoughts?

Appreciate it very much, thanks for taking the time.

Ya Know, the more I stare at it, the more I notice it ties into the pilot's name on the canopy rail as well as a bit of the exhaust bluing just aft of the pipes. Think I'll run with it a while.

Good work! I like both, but I'm leaning toward #2. Bluer sky down to the top of the hanger would do it for me.

Thanks Frank.

Sun is about 40 degrees above the horizon to camera right in both which is another reason I framed #1 the way I did.

What little blue is present in #2 is from dragging the Lightroom blue sliders (saturation / luminance) as far as possible in opposite directions before it turns to crap.

I suppose I could go "invent" a sky in CS4 but I don't do fake skies well.

OMG - I found something wrong with one of your photos!

Not your fault though - the GPS is a bit extemporary (out of place for its time)...

I knew that...

I just shoot 'em as I find 'em. If a guy spends $2.5 million and wants a 496 on the glareshield, who am I to tell him any different, right? :D

Me? I'd at least make it removable so I don't screw up photographers!

^^^ LOL, all I have is a lowly 196 for our club 172... :)

^^^ LOL, all I have is a lowly 196 for our club 172... :)

Club I used to fly with had a 172 with AP-slaved GPS and moving map (King 155?) but now the Pipers I'm flying are nearly all navigated by Mk1/Mod0 eyeball. One has a very basic CDI only GPS that at least can give you "windage."

I used to flightplan in 50mile chunks. Now it's Intersection, Rock, Tree, Pond, Rock, Rock, Cactus, Rock at 50 foot intervals. Actually, a lot of my flying lately has been "Let's just go see what's over there..." ;)

The first shot would be a great poster, the second shot is a great calendar shot. Beautiful!

I really like the landscape version. It seems to tell the whole story. Nice.
