Backlighting is a problem here. You had to open the exposure to get detail in the shadowed side. This resulted in low contrast there, which makes the image look dull. On the other hand, the illuminated part's highlights are blown out. You might have gotten a more pleasing image if you stood with the sun at your back. Try to pick a spot without utility wires overhead. It looks like an early morning shot, which is a good time.
