Just got a new laptop with windows 7 on it.
First couple of days it was fine, then after it updated with about 30 updates, everytime I turn it on the windows installer runs, installing windows live.

Should it do this?
How can I stop it?

Everything else seems to be fine, it's just a bit annoying.

Thanks.

The first thing I would do is change the configuration of your automatic updates. ;)

Set it so that you decide what gets updated or not.

Now, as for Windows Live, not something I am interested in. I would open up the recent updates and uninstall it, but that is just me.

if you want windows live, just open regedit and go to local machine->software->microsoft->windows->current version->run and delete the entry that says windows live. if it's not there, then in may be in current user (follow same path, just change machine to user). you can also disable it in msconfig, though it's not as good as completely removing the entry.
if you don't want windows live, just uninstall it as said above.
