Challenge #254 - 'It's the most wonderful time of the Year'
________________________________

Thanks to everyone who entered - I know having two young 'uns how busy everyone is at this time of year so thank you for taking the time and effort - much appreciated and went a long way to getting me in the Xmas spirit.
I loved Maureens and Michaels Santas - Maureen, that the most suntanned Santa I have ever seen! Paul B your snowman would bring a smile to grumpiest of faces at Xmas and I would willingly give him a home by my Xmas tree, BobsyourUncle what a beautifully lit tree - I was so jealous seeing this beautiful snowy scene but since last night we have had 6 inches of snow here so I now feel not so left out!
Marie I love all the Santa hats - all that's missing is the snow - (and Freyja has that hat that the wee one in the buggy is wearing!)
Mike171979 I take it that this is Disney? Which one? Very Xmassy indeed - would have loved a wee trip there to get me in the Xmas mood!
Rafael that is a beautiful Xmas decoration - I would love to have one of these in my house but am afraid with a great dane and two small children it would not last very long! Kevan Am loving your Hook! Maybe if he had a wee swig out of the bottle next to him he may cheer up a bit?
Boutty Great decorations - is this your house? Straight out of National Lampoons Xmas Vacation! Very festive indeed.
Goosfrabaa I think you were a wee tad late entering this time but thank you for taking the time and effort to do so.
So now for the results......

1st - Bobs your Uncle - Yard Decoration
2nd - Paul B- Snowglobe Snow Man
3rd - Boutty - Xmas Luminance
and sooooo close - Hon. mention to Mike171979 for Main Street in December.

So over to you Bobsyouruncle - do we break for a week over Xmas or carry on as normal?
Thanks again everyone for going to the trouble of entering in what it a very busy time of year for everyone.
I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas however you decide to celebrate it.
Carolyn xxx

...... to quote the song (as you know I like to!)
So let see em! All those fabulously festive treats. Assault my eyes with all things festive; Snowmen, Santas, Chestnuts Roasting on an open fire, Christmas Trees, whatever you feel captures the mood of this time of year. Happy Holidays!

Congrats to Bob, Paul, and Boutty! A very timely, and fun theme this week, Carolyn...thanks for taking the time to host and judge. I also loved Bob's shot this week. It had a couple blown areas, but did not detract from the overall affect. I loved the muted tones setting off the snow covered lights...beautiful! Kevan...my son covets your Hook ornament! I'd love to have shot the Plaza in Kansas City for this challenge, but it's a bit of a drive so had to pass on that idea! Great job by all!:D

Congrats to Bob, Paul & Boutty! Carolyn, that suntan comes from living in California, I guess. He was at our annual Christmas Tree Lane and I only had the Pro1 with me :)

On a holiday note, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Well, Gee Whiz!! Just a sec while I pick myself up off the floor - I didn't expect to win this one with all those wonderful photos that were submitted!!

But I do thank you for choosing my picture!

I too thought the Santa pictures were wonderful!

I don't feel a weeks break is needed - a lot of folks will be at home so may have more time to come up with a creative shot.

Guess I better put the thinking cap on for this weeks challenge. I do have an idea . . . . .

Congratulations to Bobs your Uncle and Boutty. I'm pround just to be in the group. Thanks to Car for hosting the Challenge.

I think I still failed in my image in that I was trying to catch the glint off the "snow" in the snow globe snowman. It constantly flashes to the eye like a disco globe, but I could not find the right combination of light to make the flashes show up and still get the color on the rest of the image. I guess that means I will keep trying.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Congrats to BobsYourUncle & Paul B. Thanks Carolyn for a wonderful festive challenge. All of our images really bringing us the spirit of X-mas.

...- is this your house? Straight out of National Lampoons Xmas Vacation! Very festive indeed.
Nope, my entry was taken as multiple shots in front of my mate's house. Combined together in PP. :) Here's an old clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8PYo1Nbr4k) of the display on Youtube.

Have a great and safety holiday everyone! :p
