Ok, wel as I posted last time, my current 18-55 is in 5 pieces right now. I am looking for a quick replacement as I have a gig to cover next Wednesday.

I have 550CAD (about 400USD) now to spend, ranging from 18mm to 70mm only please. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Tamron 28-75mm/2.8 Clear as a bell, sharp, never disappoints.

What kind of gig? The 50mm F1.4 prime is a great lens for low light, the Tamron is a great lens if F2.8 if fast enough for you.

Doing album cover shots for a local band. First chance Ive had to do something with photography (all money made has been after the photo was taken, no work like this).

I was looking at the Tamron 28-75 (I think thats it), is it good?

Also, no primes for me. I tried them out and I can not use them too well.

For low light work you sometimes need to use a prime to get a large aperture. For theature Iuse my 50mm F1.4, the shutter speeds with the F2.8 Tamron are too slow, and you *can't* use a flash most of the time.

Ugh, too many choices, there is the Tamron 28-75, Sigma 28-70 and Sigma 24-70. Decisions... decisions....

I really like the Tamron, however I keep reading that there are some QC issues, issues that I dont have 6 weeks to wait for.

Sigma QC doesn't exactly have a better reputation than Tamron QC
