This is the current background on my laptop. It is an odd little shot, for a botanical, much is wrong with it. Overturned leaves, stray pine needles... Taken at Longwood Gardens with their inky dark water. What do you think?

Lovely lilies.I tried a crop, 5X7, and cloned out the upper leaf..really brought those blooms in your face. I have a few of these types as well.the lower blooms reflection would have been great in the frame? But thats nit for sure.

Yeah, the upper part of that picture is pretty unimportant, distracts from lilies. If it was true dead space, like cloning out that top leaf (like Flo suggested), then it could be cool in the current aspect ratio.

Really good contrast between the flowers and the dark water. Nice shot! Thanks for sharing!

you are on track - I can't wait until next summer - I'm going to track down some lilly ponds.

If you are ever up near Longwood, its in PA outside Wilmington, DE, the lilles there are the best. We go east many Octobers so I have always gotten to see them at a good time of year.
I can't think of where I was in DC a few years ago, but I remember someplace there having good lillies too.
Thanks for the comments. I have some other shots from this series that were keepers. This one is just too close to good to toss......
