YN-126 Won't fire Camera

Just got an El-cheapo YN-126 remote shutter release. It won't fire the camera (a 7D), it sends the signal to focus the camera and the LED changes from green (focus) to Red (release?) when pressing the button down fully. Any ideas?

Well after playing around a bit more it looks as though I wasn't seating the plug into the camera far enough. Thanks to everyone that helped.
