To tourists, Venice is all about water taxi's and romantic gondola rides . . .
For the locals, it's a city where you do everything by boat . . .

Venice is a lovely city. Probably the most beautiful in the whole country (after Rome, of course :D). But thinking that all the buildings are suspended with wooden pillars make me worry...

I only visited Venice (after Rome, of course), for a few days. It is definately a place where a photographer could spend a great deal of time, capturing the many faces and sides of the city and it's people.
It does indeed appear to be a place slowly being reclaimed by the water that it is built over.
