Without HDD 129 Euros in http://shop.shuk.de/shop/
Only real downside I see is that it needs an adapter for SD: http://www.twintek.nl/images/nextocfad.gif
Does anyone out there have this device?

Well, I just bought one on eBay. Hope to have it before the weekend so I can use it at an airshow on the 25th.Ted Peer

Ok. I eBay'd one from the seller: phototoolkit. I "bought it now" on Sunday. It was delivered on Tuesday. He's in Singapore and FedEx'd it to me.
I have not done any time trials, but it's quick. It does what it is supposed to. I used it to backup/store 1800+ jpegs from an airshow on the 25th. I have a 1GB card, and it copied it in a couple of minutes.

So you can recommend it? Any cons?

Looks like a cheap option for secondary backup on the move! Where is the UK distributor......

The pictures I mention from the airshow were 2.96GB 1857 jpegs in 20 folders. It copied them with no problem. It creates a datestamped folder that the card contents go into, so multiple copies in the same day are no issue.
As a test. I copied 957MB consisting of 552 jpeg files from a 20D, in 7 folders, from a 80x Lexar, to the Nexto-CF. 2 min 17 sec the first time, and 2 min 24 sec the second time. My tablet PC takes over 10 minutes to copy the same card through a PCCard adapter...
I do have one issue right now, the FireWire connector on the device is bad. The USB works just fine. The factory rep posts on another forum, and is sending me another circuit board, for me to swap, and send the defective back to him.

I ordered Nexto CF with 60GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K60, external LiON accu and 5-in-1 CF adapter from http://www.twintek.nl/nextocf.html and should receive it early next week. They also do firmware update (+ test it works) which is really helpful because I need a working unit next week :)

What about the Compact Drive PD70X ?
Anyone in a position to say how they compare to each other?
:)

well still waiting on mine to arrive - or be shipped as I am having trouble understand the German website...
If you look through those links at the top there is one that graphs all of the speeds and you will see that this device pretty much cleans up :0)

I got mine today - what a wonderful little box in a nice leatherlike case. Stores 1GB Ultra II in 60 seconds, SD Ultra II via adapter takes few seconds more. Nice progress display, and it's good it detects if card is already stored (I tend to forget things :)). More later...

I ordered this one. I like the fact that it runs on AA batteries. You can get those most places, and I will use it when traveling. It's told to do 50gb on one set of batteries and it will backup 1gb in under under 2 minutes (16mb/sek - information from the company homepage). That should make it faster than the Nexto?
Cheers
