What do you think of these? Not the best sunset weather, but good enough for some photos. Both were taken from overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.

RbnDave, very interesting shots. To me they impart an eery feeling, especially #1, which is very different from most sunset shots. The light shining downward thru the clouds in #2 is very nice. Good work!

Love the "triangular window" effect of the first one - its a very nice shot.
I like the cloud shapes and the mountain shapes in the second
Great Work

Thanks guys. For both of these shots I under exposed two stops to get the moody effect. It wasn't the most spectacular sunset so I had to improvise a bit to make things look dramatic. I live only a two hour drive from where these pictures were taken. Hopefully, I can get back there soon when conditions are more favorable.

Man, #2 is exceptional. The contrast between highlight and shadow is very appealing.

How do you get the hazy soft fucus hills effect?? Is that part of post processing?

Thanks again for the comments. I was away from my computer for two days hence the slow reply.
You ask: How do you get the hazy soft fucus hills effect?? Is that part of post processing?
That effect isn't soft focus or post processing, it is real haze. The blueridge and smoky mountains are hazy all summer.
Here is what the mountains looked like with mormal exposure. this photo was taken at about the exact same time and lighting as the above two.
