View Full Version : IR hotspot on 10D IR images - canon 28-135 IS lens

I have been trying IR on my 10D with the Hoya R72 but every image has a large bright spot - I don't know where to start working out if it is the lens, camera or filter. I haven't got another lens the same size... Anyone else had the same problem?

And on another related topic - how do all you terrific IR photographers avoid nasty digital grain?

highly likely it's the lens. Which lens are you using? there's a list of good and bad IR lens elsewhere on this board somewhere.

Thanks Duder - found the list though I am still not sure how! Add to that, the Canon 28-135 IS, I guess. The only one on the list as good I have is the 100mm macro (with a different thread, so that will mean a stepping ring). I am also less than sure that an equivalent of 160mm will take the right kind of pics for me - certainly it would be an unusual choice for landscape....!

yeah, other than getting a new lens, I'd suggest you experiment with photoshop to remedy the hotspot problem.
