This English (house) sparrow (Passer domesticus) has seen a domestic
disturbance or two. He stood nearby as we ate lunch today.

This one seems to have all her feathers, but from the look in her eye, she's equally tough.
(My co-worker wanted to wipe the corn chip crumbs off their mouths after she fed them.)

#1 definitely needs a nice shower.
#2 has the touch guy look. :)
I just learned that there are many different species of sparrow in TX. I'll start collecting their pictures now.

Thanks, CFC. We heard a lot of chittering at one point, presumably sparrows fighting over scraps. Didn't really notice how beat up he was until I got a good look at the shot. (I think he has a pair of brass beaks under his wing.)

Thanks chemicalbro. I haven't seen more than a handful of sparrows out where I live (rural/suburbs). They seem better adapted to the city. These two certainly do seem to have street smarts.
