I was quite surprised that I was able to take this photo using my 50mm 1.8 lens.
Setting I used was f2.8 1/80sec. ISO100, Digital rebel. NO Cropping.

Lovely sharp shot, great colours on the feathers. A bit different to the robins we have here, but just as nice and from that picture they look just as cheeky. He must have let you get pretty close.

Like Daragh, I'm wondering about the focal distance ???
Great capture, sharp, and good color. Good job!

Well it's a juvenile so perhaps it couldn't fly very well yet...

The distance was actually about arm's length. Montreal's correct about it couldn't really fly. Taking the actual shot was really quick but approaching it took forever. I had to take baby steps towards it and each time it turns it's head, I had to stop and hold still until it can relax. I was a perfect feast for the mosquitoes because I cannot smack it and stay still.
As for DOF, I should had set it to F4 or higher but I was getting the blood sucked out of me...
next time, I'll use deet...
