I was out in British Columbia, which is on the west coast of Canada, on an island called Gabriola. We were at a small little resort there and I happen to notice this guy. I couldn't help but snap a few shots of him. Hope you like it!

The totem isn't something you see everyday! I like the contrasting colors. Nice shot!

Yeah. I wasn't told what the whole thing symbolizes...but I am guessing from the lower half...that is has something to do with fertility! LOL!:o

kool photo.
I like the colors. Being 100% ignorant of the history, is this a totem pole that has been standing for a long time or is it new?
Just curious.
re-edit: I looked at the photo again and saw the concrete pad the totem rests on and pretty much answered my own question. LOL

Yeah. It is actually an older Totem according to one of my relatives that lives out there. It was moved to this spot by the people that own the resort and they kind of did a refurb on it or something. The stayed true to the original colors and such though.

Yeah. I shot that with my 300D and the kit lense last year. It is a really cool area of Canada to visit.

Nice shot of a colorful totem. When the kit lens is used right, it gives you pleasant surprise. ;)

Great job, crusher. I know from experience how difficult it can be to make an interesting photo of a totem. You did it well.

Great shot. Last time we were in Prince Rupert, B.C. it was drizzly, cold and gray so it wan't good for shooting all those great totem poles there.
