Jeez, thats daring. I assume its a long runway and that they use two adjacent high speed runway exits.

Good 'catch'! I thought there is supposed to be a larger spacing between them to let the air settle down. OTOH, looks like there's room for another one between them! ( Or 3-4 Cessnas!) :D:D

Sorry guys, I didnt really mean to fake you out but it is actually 2 shots stiched togother. The 737 is actually just one plane. I didnt plann it to be like this, I took several pictures of the landing thinking the Hawker jet made a nice foreground element. Only later did I realise I could make a panorama with them. I really like the results!
Thought this image is not true to life I have seen many ocasions with Southwest where one is just lifting off as one is on very short final!!!

Well you fooled me - I know that HAP is a busy airport for its size, and I've experienced some frantic braking after landing there. I've also had to wait in queue as the planes took off, one after another. But I hadn't thought they'd stack them up that tight coming in. Good stitching job as it fooled me.
BTW, does Cleveland have parallel runways set up yet, or is it still essentially one main setup? Haven't been to that airport in about 4 years now.

Here is a shot of Cleveland's Hopkins Airport. Taken on April 14, 1005
Although they have 3!!!! paralell runways, they never seem to be open for use at the same time.

yeah it probably allows them to taxi alot of planes out there and have them take off rapidly when needed..nice airport shot.

That was the big issue in the papers when I lived there. Seems that the runways are supposedly too close together to run parallel operation, at least with the bigger planes. The airport is owned by the City of Cleveland, but there was a big dispute about the city trying to buy up land in another city to expand the airport. Many were in favor of building a new regional airport outside of the highly populated area, but the city apparently used some strong political clout to keep the airport where it is (lots of tax $$).
The city also used their clout to force suburban shuttle bus operations out of the airport, at least temporarily so that people are forced to rent their cars and park in the city of Cleveland instead of nearby BrookPark, Ohio (more tax $$, but more expensive). I always hated local politics up there - funny how an airport image can bring it all back. :)
Anyway, very nice aerial shot of the airport. I recognize it from that angle, even though I don't fly. You can see interstate 71 & 480, the Berea Freeway, and Brookpark Rd. My old stomping grounds!

So the airport was built 899 years before the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk?

That shows the great vision that aristocrats of the time had. :)

i was about to say. the 2nd one better be going around or else someone wasn't going to be in a lot of trouble (a lot more then they were already)
3-10-3. SAME RUNWAY SEPARATION
a. Separate an arriving aircraft from another aircraft using the same runway by ensuring that the arriving aircraft does not cross the landing threshold until one of the following conditions exists or unless authorized in para 3-10-10 (http://www.faa.gov/atpubs/ATC/Chp3/atc0310.html#3-10-10), Altitude Restricted Low Approach.
1. The other aircraft has landed and is clear of the runway.
