That's a bad ass picture.

Is that the original sky? For some reason it looks strange where it meets the mountains. Like if it was edited.

Thanks...

Yeah that is the original sky. The original was a raw file so I took a darker and a lighter saved file and made a mask for the sky. So other than 2 different exposures the photo is true to life.

I too dont like the fake looking border between the mountains and the sky. I hear a technique called feathering will help... I asked for help here...

Not exactly sure what feathering will do, so I will ask....

It seems unatural that the sky is soo bright and the ground is muddy. YOu have to fine tune your selection. React and adjust. Sinc its a little messed up the left, try selectinf a few more/less pixels.

Just curious, do you get af for lenses on that adaptor?

when you are creating your mask, use a soft brush along the edge. That way you have complete control. it takes a little time/practice, but the result will be much more desireable./

A soft brush for which tool?

As for the Lenses....

You will lose many automatic features with adapted lenses. This includes autofocus, auto diaphram, electronic focus point confirmition, and some of the basic modes don't meter the light properly.

For some the loss of automation seems crazy, but for those of us who remember the joy of using manual cameras it can bee rather nice. For me comming from a Leica M6 Rangefinder, manual lenses and the creative camera modes are very enjoyable. For those who only shoot in the basic modes and have only known todays electronic wonder-cams it is not worth it.

If you already have a colection of adaptable lenses like I do then it is really a no-brainer, go get the adapter.... If not then you should still expirement. Some of the worlds most legendary 35mm lenses are not made for the canon EOS but are still worth using. Here is a quick list of world class lenses adaptable to the EOS...

In order of price:

Pentax-Takumar...............50mm/1.4 Beautiful low light portraits
Nikon-Nikkor....................105mm/2.5 (AKA "the lens from outter-space"!:p)
Contax-Carl Ziess............ 45mm/2.0 Plannar
Leica-Leitz.................... 50mm/2.0 Summicron-R

Ok, here is my final version....
Thanks everyone for your help, I really learned a lot working on this image, if it shows it or not.

Process...

1 shot - 2 initial images made from DPP, one exposed for the sky, one for the plane/foreground

Darker shot was made background, lighter pasted on to top layer

Sky was selected and deleted from lighter layer with feather at 90

Lighter layer set to screen at 100%

USM, saturation, and contrast adjusted

Image flattened

New layer w/ high pass filter @ 30% added for sharpness

Flaten, saved....

The end.
