Shot in pure darkness and illuminated with a hand held flashlight. I turned it off and moved around the scene, painting the car with the light. I only photoshopped out some background stray lighting at the edges of the photo.

Nice - How did you do the "Z" above the hood in front of the windshield?

I think he put the camera on a long exposure and then walked around the car with a torch making the shape he wanted.

The Zorro mark is the final nail in the coffin of a technique which I gave up twenty years ago.

Actually it's not a Zorro mark, the car is a Nissan (or Datsun) Z.

Nice image. I would like to see more definition between the car and background especially at the roof line and air dam. I have seen others work painting cars with light and the reflection of the light on the car got too to be too much, you've handled it very well here. Do you have any more? If so please share them.

Nice!
One of my favorite photos is the portrait Picasso did with the bull.

Very cool picture! My brother had 3 300ZX'x, one of which was a TT. Sadly he had to get rid of them all.

Wow, thanks for all the response. Yes it was all done with an American Torch...AKA Flashlight, in a long exposure. I turned off the light to move around the frame, carefully, and turned it on for strategic effects. It took me about 10 tries to get the right shot. I did trip in the dark a couple of times. LOL. The car is my 1976 Datsun 280Z, I am currently working on a 1972 240Z.

I had no idea Pablo Picasso did flashlight tricks with a camera too!
