View Full Version : Uprighting a Cessna

Nobody was injured when this Cessna ended up side down, probably because it touched a sandbar in shallow water. What was more interesting to me was watching how they put it upright and floated it away.
The Moosonee Transport utility boat (basically small tug) really came in handy.
This is an example of how pictures come to you, the plane was in the middle of the river in front of where I live, just walked across the street to shoot.

Nice Catch but it took me a minute to figure out I had to go back to front to get the sequence in the proper order...

There's a word for that poor plane, but it is inappropriate for this forum. ;)

It looks like they did more damage to the airplane righting it than the crash did...

The back seems to have been broken in the crash. When they then flipped it, the weight of the tail took its toll. Poor, sick puppy, but a great series.

But a sea plane is intended to land on water. That's the whole idea with the pontoons.
