Hello there,

I bought a 300D with the standard 18-55mm in January and I love it. Unfortunately, I am now getting an Error 02 message and it wil not take pictures or download them. If I take a picture, I get the briefest flash of it on the screen and then the Error message flashes.

I have a Fujiflim 256MB Compact flash card, if that is any relevance. Look forward to hearing any thoughts.

Many thanks,

David Berger

What does the manual say for Err 02? It's in the back. I don't have my manual around so I can't look it up. A search around here will probably turn up some info, except that as a search term "02" is probably too short to be indexed :(

Ok, I found my manual, and it says it's a CF card problem. Try formatting the CF card in the camera, if that doesn't work use a card reader to format it in your PC then format it again in the camera. If that doesn't work try a different CF card.

btw welcome to POTN :)

From the manual - Err 02: There is a problem with the CF card. Do one of the following: Remove and reload the CF card, use another CF card, or format the CF card.

look inside the cf unit of the camera! you probably bent a pin while putting the card in?!

Thanks a lot everybody. I have never taken the card out, so I guess it is an intrinsic problem with the card, rather than having bent a pin. The camera will not reformat the card, so I may have to buy a new one. Many thanks to everyone,

David

The only time I ever got an err 02 was when I bent a pin in my old 300D. Canon wanted $200 to fix it, but they did it for free after some discussion.
