Hey everyone i'm just trying to get a "name" that i can use for watermarking, and possibly a website...
The thing is my name is "odd" Justin Llamas and it sounds weird to me :X
My middle name is Marshall and maybe i can use that instead of my last name...
Anyone have any suggestions for "names"
i.e. jllamasphotography, jmllamasphotos, etc...
thanks! :)

I'm just starting out in the world of photography and seem to be doing pictures of people, but my focus is Glamour & Nude.
Here's a shot of what i've been sorta doing recently.

I recommend starting on flickr and just using your real name as a watermark. Though to be honest watermarks are useless, you never see any high end photographers using them on their websites.
www.flickr.com
If you click "edit" once you finish upload a picture it will lead you to a small editor where there is a "text" button that you can use to create a watermark. Then just delete the original unwatermarked photo. If you really want one anyway.

How about just your first and middle? "Justin Marshall" is not bad at all. And for a logo use an old west marshalls star badge.

So this guy shoots celebrities on a regular basis. I think he's a hack!
Just kidding of course. I really like his style. Very fresh.

I disagree... Well, at least partially.
I think people expect watermarks to somehow "protect" their images (sort of like slapping a UV filter on their lens will somehow "protect" it). I'd agree that watermarks won't do much to stop a determined image thief.
On the other hand, if you use watermarks as a form of advertising, so that when your low resolution images are stolen and posted on Facebook they refer back to your galleries (wherever they are posted), etc., at least the pirated photos are working for you.
Hmmmm... Do "high end photographers" and "Flickr" belong in the same paragraph together? ;)
As to your business name, there is a lot to be said for simply using your own name. There are some arguments against it, too. But it might make for easier searches when someone loses your business card.

Watermarks are totally a choice. There are people that cant imaging ever putting one on an image for any reason. And there are some that cant imaging NOT putting them on every image that is ever uploaded to the web. It is up to you what you want to do. However they will stop the casual thief, but not a determined one.
A lot of people put a watermark for the same reason Olan Mills or Life touch does. Simple brand recognition/advertising, as already mentioned.
And, yes, high end photographers and flickr do intermingle. You can find galleries of a ton of top photographers in every area of photography. They do not use it for the same reasons a biginner does. But they are there none the less.
