Not that great at all. Just got thousands to choose from, I never know which one to submit.
All my friends told me to submit my bird sunrise shot, as they felt it was good. I didn't like it for the fact of the sunflare, and I wasn't going to cheat the image, by trying to edit it out. :p
I'm happy just to keep entering them for the fun, it's just a plus that they keep finishing 3rd.

Well, I can tell You that I had big troubles choosing between Yours and Sheldons photo. Sheldons won my vote.
Although #2 technically is a great photo waterfalls with blurred water really isn't me. I prefer that the water look more natural.

Except for your photo wazza, I didn't think the last leg of the competition represented the best of what was submitted.

A topic I have been hoping for in the contests is "Reflections"
Of course, if it ever IS the topic, I probably won't be able to find anything that fits . . . .

I like that Idea of a Macro contest. I am still looking in my files for some Macro shots. I have many of them but can't seem to find any of them. Isn't that the way it always is when you want something.

Macro would be nice...my daughter (who was egging me on to send in some tasty pictures) likes to take close ups of our roses with her A75. She sometimes gets some decent ones.

I'm sure we could see our way to having a macro contest. It would be a nice way of welcoming in the new Macro part of the forum.

You know...it wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe revisit some of the previous contests...seeing on how I'm am new to photography and this forum. My photos won't be all that great, but I think that it will be a great way to stretch myself and learn. Some of the older topics I would have loved to try.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, just had a good idea for a photo idea for tasty!!! Going to try and gete a agood capture this weekend!

What are your thoughts on a 'Photojournalist' contest. Would people be interested or is it too hard?

I think that it would be a good stretch for everyone! But, what exactly are we looking for in photos for a "photojournalist" contest? A single picture that tells a story or a series? Sorry to say that I'm not very savy on what it would take to enter a contest like that.

I'm happy to do reflections at some stage, but I would like to wait a while. We had 'double take' fairly recently, which prompted many reflection related photographs.

Here are some thoughts... Some of these may have been done, I was trying to go by what wasn't on that competitions page already.
Playful Pets
Horizons
Portraits
Seasons ( you could break it up in to icey, wet, hot, ect )
Feathered Friends
Science Fiction
Black & White

I love the idea of a Photojournalism contest. I think it may be a little hard to judge though. I mean, how much would the "story" weigh on the judging??
Here's an Idea: Advertising. Basically, pic a subject and "sell it" with a photograph.

How about a mini marathon?
Let me explain. In Copenhagen a newspaper arrange a 24 hours marathon where contestants get 24 subjects, one for each hour and have to produce one photo for each.
Maybe we could do a mini with lets say 4 subjects that need to be shot within 24 hours on a certain date.
I have never participated in one of these marathons.

Great suggestions, thanks! I'll give it some thought and then probably announce the next contest over the weekend.

That's a really interesting idea. How does the voting work? Would we essentially have 4 separate contests all running simultaneously?

L8r,
Yeah, I hadn't really thought of that. Advertising is a cracking idea though. Should we make everyone photograph the same item, or would they be able to choose the item they wanted to 'sell'?

I am not sure, I will see if I can find out. But I think all photos are evaluated as a whole and the winner will be the on that solved all subjects best.

I could not find anything that describes the voting but I did find the official website

Here You can also see the winners from last year.

They actually run 2 competitions. A classic and digital. In the classic each contestant receive a 24-picture filmrole and they can only use one shot per subject! The subjects are given to contestants 4 at a time every 4 hours.
Following is the only I found about the "voting"
It is up to you to interpret the individual themes. When the picture series are judged the focus is on the creative idea and the composition of the picture - but it also have to be technically OK.

I think you should be able to chose the item yourself. I also do think it would have to limited to an "item." You could advertise anything. But it would have to be distinguishable. Say like a restaurant, or even something like an ati smoking add....of course I'd have to haunt you for that one! lol. But it would have to just be a photograph of course (this would be the hardest part for me!!! lol. I love design work.)
Just a thought.
