Does anyone know anything about this Ring Light Flash advertized on eBay?

It probably is too good to be true a flash ring light for $89.00. The seller offers a 7 day trial period. I would be using it with a 50 mm macro lens.

wow very interesting. Wonder why they dont list this as compat with the 20D. Would be very interested in a ring flash form my macro work at this price. Hey buy it and let me know what happens!

a blurb about this flash from the FM forums. Shame!

Phoenix ring flash-- contacts would not seem to even line up with camera hot-shoe contact points-- especially TTL. Totally a waste of money. My dealer took it back and let me apply the money toward the Nikon's dedicated TTL ring flash. I was immediately disappointed that Nikon's professional ring flash ttl is worthless in digital applications, whereas Canon promised it's ring flash was compatible with canon digital cameras.

I might add this is one post i could find on this unit. could only find good reviews in rags selling gear. I really would be interested on others feedback. At this price it might be alot of fun to try one out.

if they can't even get the contacts lined up, i doubt i'll be trying one out soon.i'd rather spend the money then fry my camera.

Hello all,

I just fell for the same gimmick! After being unable to get the flash to fire from my digital XT I spoke to the Tech Support rep from Phoenix - their ring flash is NOT compatable with digital cameras at all - no matter what the dealer tells you!

Oh well..... back to the drawing board.

There are inexpensive ring lights that don't "flash" but stay lit.

The guy I bought mine from still has six (6) flashes advertised - Phoenix - for Canon digital cameras. His Ebay ID = VCC113. They are NOT compatable with digital cameras, will not even fire in manual mode. Might damage your camera - they have a 230v trigger voltage. The camera I believe is only 5v or 12v. I've asked him to change his ads. No response. I reported him to Phoenix - no answer from them yet. This makes it a quest...

In the last month, someone posted a "ring-flash" (reflector) that they made. Can't find it in my links though.
