Hey guys,

So, I dropped my S400 into a sink full of water over the weekend. After recovering from my heart attack, I gathered up every penny I had, and went and picked up the SD300.

I almost picked up the S500, the model up from the S400, but went with this instead.

I do use my camera for all kinds of things, and I take this little guy everywhere with me. I geuss I'm wondering besides the processing speed & the LCD display, would anyone say that over all this camera produces better quality photos than the S400 & the S500 models??

Thank you!!!

The cameras look very similar in spec, the main difference being (like you mentioned) the larger LCD display on the SD300 and the (presumeably) newer DIGIC II image processor.

Personally, I'd have probably gone for the S500 with it's extra megapixel myself ! :)

If you could tell the difference between an identical shot taken with each camera, then I'd be very surprised.

Incidently, I do wish that Canon wouldn't name their products differently in different parts of the world...here, the SD300 is known as the IXUS40, so it took me a while to figure out which camera you were talking about.

Anyone know why they do this ? It's very annoying and can make researching a new camera harder than it needs to be.

you know, im actually considering taking my camera back this week when I get paid and swaping it out for the SD400, the 5.0 megapixel version of the same camera.
