For the second year in a row we have had Santa come to our house. He comes by for 30 minutes, reads a story to the kids, and of course asks them what they want for Christmas. My daughter loves it! My son is scared to death. The photo opportunities are much better and you don't have to stand in line at the mall. My wife and I both took pictures, Mrs. Clause took the family one. My wife did all the processing on these as well. Thanks for looking! C&C is always welcome.

Thank you very much. Yes his beard is real. He grows it out around Christmas just for this reason.

You have some great light in these. Is it natural or did you bounce a flash? Also, I really like the B&W pic of your daughter on the wall in the background!

Thanks!

We have two large windows in our dining room and that room is open to our family room. We also have a glass storm door that lets a lot of light in. I used as much ambient as possible, but still used the flash to fill in as well, bounced off the ceiling. I shot in M mode, but was around 2/3-1 stop underexposed on the ambient.

The pic of my daughter is one of my favorites. We took it in the bath one night. All the white surfaces make for any easy location to bounce the flash around. :) We have a similar one of my son too, although it is hidden more by the tree. Here is the version of our daughter before some slight cloning for the finished print.

NO!

She would love one though! I don't think our HOA or backyard would approve (or the local ASPCA for that matter since the yard would be FAR too small).

Thanks!

Mike,
You guys are so lucky to have Santa do a house call and I'm sure your son will warm up to him eventually. Nice photo opt and nice photos.

Thank you very much! I think he'll do fine next year. He is just at the age where strangers, especially ones with beards and bright red suits, scare him a little.

Thanks Char. I know, she is 4 and a half going on 20! The girl is so smart it is scary! We are going to have our hands full! Luckily she is also very good (fingers crossed).

That is very cool that you do that. Sooo much better than standing in line in the mall. Thanks for sharing.

I thought the same thing about their little girl's resemblance to her mom.
