Hello,

I've just finished a short course in digital photography and have an assignment which is driving me nuts! Wonder if I can get some inspiriation/help via this forum?

The assignment is to produce a photo essay in 8 pictures. The essay has to tell a story , have a beginning, middle and end. Now for the tricky bit, the theme... "One Colour". That's it! You can pick any one colour you want and tell a story with that one colour as the theme in every shot.

How do I tell a story of "one colour"?

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a story about "one color" that's different from the other colors... ;)

In other words you want us to do the work for you...or give you some ideas, which this kind of assignment is designed to help you generate in the first place, so you can get the mark  good luck! The point is you're supposed to think about it and that will give you some ideas on how to interpret the theme. Then you can build your own photo-essay around it.

So think, what is it asking? "One Color" It's asking for a single color. So pick a color and do a story about it; green is a pretty easy one. What makes you think of the color green? What comes to mind? Maybe you want to do something on the environment, or maybe you want to build a concept off of the thing that you think of.

Here are some green colored things to get you started, maybe if you were to find a way to link them to a message or tell a story with the images it'll give you some ideas

Money
Eco friendliness
Earth
Grass
Trees
Aurora Borealis (http://www.synergystudiosphotography.com)(coughcoughcough )
Green crayons
Aliens

Just be creative :D Be abstract. Google "photo essays about the color green" ;) but remember to come up with your own ideas and not copy anyone else.

Hi Karl,

The intention was by no means to get anyone to do my assignment for me, rather it was an open question in which I was trying to get my head around telling a story of one colour.

Cheers,

How do I tell a story of "one colour"? That's a tough one! The color "flesh" brings interesting possibilities to mind. ;)

1) Make an 8 color gradient from white to black
2) White signifies birth/beginning. Black signifies death/ end of journey.
3) A+

Your Welcome!
