I have a Canon Powershot SD300, and I Just switched over to that from my S400.

i've always had a problem getting nice scenery shots for some reason? The furhter away things get, the worse they look once I look at the shot on screen. It just seems to lose an ENOURMOUS amount of detail, so much so that I stayed away from scenery shots with my S400.

Now that I have my SD300, I'm wanting to know the best settings or anything that I can do to make scenery shots a bit better?

Can you post any examples, with EXIF data?

If you shoot landscapes you need to use the smallest aperture, or very small to maintain some detail. But the lens *can* be a limitation too. I don't know anything about your model, so I can't answer about that one. But general rule is when you shoot a landscape to use apertures around f/22 or so.

I haven't messed with the SD series cameras, but I do have an S400 and know that it has VERY limited manual control... I can only imagine that the SD series is very similar.

Probably your best bet for taking scenery shots with it is to use the Landscape mode that it has (indicated by the little mountain icon, along with the flower icon for macro mode).
