Still,

you should have bought the 50/1.4!

Everybody knows that it gets nicer images ... her smile would have been much bigger

J/K, you'll enjoy that lens and its possibilities!

Best regards,
Andy

Yes Andy, I agree with your consensus concerning the 50f1.4. I am convinced that it is not only a better built lens but has much better colour and contrast, allowing the subject to jump out of the shot. I have yet to see this with 50F1.8......still, money well spent since it is so cheap!!

lol schmoelzel.

i have the 1.8 also. i thought about the 1.4 and sometimes kick myself for passing on it. then, i think about the fact I spent $60 for the 1.8 and i smile again. there's no better lens for the money.

Even though I am no fan of the 1.8 (feels like a toy), there is no arguing the optical quality and bang for the buck!

the 50mm is a great little lens, I really enjoy using it whenever I actually do whip it out. If I had a salesperson like that, I might accidentally buy another  ;)
Oh yeah, and if I had a camera store nearby

The shots look really nice, btw

Hey, don't knock the 50/1.8II.
Tonite at a bodybuilding show, I was backstage flipping between my 16-35L and 135L, and 50/1.8II. The best shot I got all nite was actually with my 50/1.8II ! That lil' hundred dollar lens gave me a better picture than those $3000 combined L lenses :)

Somehow, That doesn't surprise me. That's a very under rated lens. ;)
Oh, and RSmith, those are a couple nice starter shots with your new lens. :D
You can kind of tell the Girl is thinking; Oh BOY, here's that dreaded obligatory shot of me again by another happy customer. (Her pursed lips was the give away.) ;)

Muscleflex, I have about 400 pictures to sort through and process. So it will be another day or so. I will post in the people section as soon as I'm done.
Thanks for asking.

This picture was taken backstage in a very dimly lit area with the 50mm at F2.2, and the 420ex bounced of some VERY high ceilings in the theatre. I couldn't believe the flash actually worked.

I like the nifty-fifty a lot.
My only claim is that the focus point is a bit difficult to get at first.
But love the clarity and bokeh !

I'm def getting the 50mm 1.8, in the uk you can get the 1.8 for £55 but the 1.4 is £218. and for a amatuer like me on a budge then the 1.8 is the one to go for !!
