How do you store all your photography gear at home?

Do you have it all neat and tidy in a camera bag or spread all over your desk or kitchen table?
Have a special wardrobe or closet?
Built special cabinet(s)?

IKEA cabinetry .... the doors hide all the mess. The bags fit on the shelves, and then there's a whole bunch of cloth boxes (similar to these (http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/10122586)) to hold accessories.

Think Tank Airport Addicted fits all of my primary gear, and its a fair amount, 2 bodies 8 lenses, accessories & tripod. I figure if I can't easily haul it with me, I won't have it me when the moment comes. 3rd body, charger and batteries for it and old tripod are in drawers.

Most of my lenses, bodies, and electronics are stored in two IKEA display cases with glass doors. It makes it convenient to select what I need for a given shoot. My strobes, light stands, backdrops, super teles, bags, etc are store in several closets because of their size and bulk.

Mine is kept in two dresser drawers. Misc equipment (battery chargers, cords etc) are kept in large clear plastic bags and labelled according to camera. (7D, 450Xsi, video camera) The actual camera, lenses and flash are kept in a LowePro Nova, ready to grab and go.

I have invested in Lowepro 4S lens cases for every lens that is not attached to one of my bodies for shelf storage, as well as the option and simply grabbing one in a rush. The big guy lives in it's carbon storage case along side them, the other one in a 4 series case. For the time being I simply prefer having my glass individually wrapped up snug and tight when not attached as part of working kit.

All this would have been thrown in the air had Parcel Force delivered my Domke F2 today like they were meant to. But they didn't because the UK has had a bit of snow. Though given there is no way that bag is going to be suitable for every occasion, I shall be getting something like a Lowepro Pro Trekker 400 AW next week, and be thoroughly sorted! My gear will be without doubt subsequently scattered amongst these lens cases and bags, given I am Mr messy. :)

As I invest more money in gear I am giving some more secure storage some thought, as I suspect my insurance company might insist I give it some thought as well; perhaps built-in metal wall cabinets or something along those lines. For the time being I am more worried about stray arms and elbows

In several camera bags and on the counter or dresser or wherever I used the camera last. Eventually it gets put away for a while until I use it again and leave it laying around.

Mine will be sitting inside of a Pelican 1650 case permanently.

If there is a fire, the case goes out the window, then I rescue the kids. Just kidding. I don't have kids.

If there is some reason I want to grab all of my stuff....Grab pelican case and go.

Pelican case can be "locked" to keep visiting children away....

For what I have right now its all in my Spare Bedroom room sprawled all over the placeA lot of mine spends time that way. My excuse is "I'm packing (or unpacking)" it whenever my wife complains. It's supposed to live in a walk-in closet that's dedicated to my camera things though (sounds like overkill, but I have camera bags hanging from the coat rails and several bookshelves with photo books, equipment manuals and travel guides on another wall, so it's pretty much one-stop shopping.

I bought it about eight or nine years ago and I seem to recollect it was about $250.00. I haven't seen them in our local stores in several years... I would think any kind of tool storage chest would work, although the wood one looks nicer in the house.

A tempting thread. It would be cool to have something big enough for a couple of AlienBees and Vagabond, which I saw pictured here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showpost.php?p=9264288&postcount=175), or one just right for aircraft carryon.

Hopefully this stupid thing in Detroit won't impact photographers in terms of what they carry or how they carry it. What next, no PocketWizards because it is a remote "trigger" system?

Oooh, now they tell us to stay in our seat for the last hour of the flight. Whew, that'll save us. Yeah, because you could never try the same nefarious act earlier in a flight.

most of my boxes and gear i am not using have been stored on a shelf in a cupboard, everything else is stored in a compuday pack apart from the tripod. its contents include

canon 1000d
panasonic p&s
tamron 18-270 vc
canon ef 50mm f/1.8 + dorky aftermarket hood
nikon 28mm F/2.8
430 ex flash
extension tubes
cheap wireless flash triggers
chargers for both cameras
assorted memory cards, a reversing ring, m42 to eos converter

easy to pick up and take anywhere, although i don't have as much gear as most of you guys, so storage is easy

I devoted half of the closet in my office to camera gear. I got a shelving system from the container store with 3 levels which is where I store my bags and white lightnings. On the bottom I have my Think Tank Airport International which is typically loaded with all of my gear. On the side of the closet I keep my tripods and lightstands.

The top shelf of the closet is currently home to all the small pieces that seem to accumulate w/o me knowing where they came from lol! I'll find places for them all eventually.

All my stuff fits in my Think Tank Airport International comfortably, which is locked thanks to the built in locks. I then lock the bag to a steel shower bar which is drilled into the studs in the closet in my office using a Master Lock and thick chain. I the lock the office door and for an extra step the house is protected by a motion sensor alarm system.

Lens hoods mixed in around the desk. 430ex flash to the left of my keyboard. 5D/35L combo on the floor to the right of me. 1DIII/85L on floor behind me. 24-70 and 580EXII in the Crumpler bag.
