Hi! I'm a brand new user of the Canon Powershot A40. I haven't really studied how to use it extensively. I just want to pose a question, though. I upgraded my compact flash from the standard 8MB to 64MB. How many pictures can it accommodate?

With the best settings 1600x1200 "superfine" you can take about 64 pictures....

You'll get a rough estimate appearing on the lower right hand side of the lcd. This is only a guide as you may be able to take a few more or a few less than the number shown onscreen.

Hi there, I have the Canon Powershot S50 and just wanna ask which resolution should I use for better quality prints for 4R & 8R?

2592 x 1944 with Fine mode
1600 x 1200 with Superfine mode

Both approx take up the same amount of space. My idea is to save more space with my 256 CF. Can any kind soul enlighten me?

64 won't get you too far. Cards are so cheap now, if you can get one or two more. I have found out the hard way not having enough space stinks.

You are out somewhere and fill up and have to make the decision of either no more pictures (which stinks) or deleting something to clear space (which sinks).

You can get a 256 MB Lexar for $34.00 after rebate right now at Amazon.

Two years ago I bought a 128 MB card for about $150.00. How times have changed.

Spikey - In regards to your question, if you can spare the space, take it in as large a format as you can. That way if you eve decide to do a large print you have it OR if you want to crop a photo you have more space for you print and not have to resample.

Hope this helps,
Mike
