When does Canon announce new offerings?/Need input

Are there specific times of the year that Canon announces new cameras? I'm researching
the SD's to replace my FujiFilm Z200. Looking at the SD 970, SD990 and S90. Then I started to think that we are just days away from 2010 and that there might be a new batch coming out soon. No rush really, but I'm a camera junkie it seems.
I'd like something that I can palm, is unobtrusive, fits in pocket, good sensor, at least 10 mp, fast, good zoom reach.
Can certainly hold off a few months if the right camera comes along.

The "New Batch" was released in October and November.....you have a LONG wait!!
Announcements were made in August

There's usually some kind of new product announcements for releases in the spring and late fall. So there may be announcements in the next couple of months - but the cameras won't ship for another 2-3 months after that.

And that's a painful wait! Might as well bite the bullet now. Thanks for the info. Now it's time to narrow the choices down and hold the cameras in my hands.
