Like Flo already said: over exposed. But also too cluttered. If you had not told us it was a "duck" I would not have known where and what to look for. If you shoot a particular subject the eyes of the person looking at your photo should be drawn almost irresistably to that point. Here there are too many things to look at to find that blur in the bottom lefthand corner as well.
The first thing I looked at was the sunshine through the trees. The second the thing (is that a boat...???) at the edge of the lake - and yes, only then I found the duck.

What camera shot this? To be honest, it looks like a really low megapixel camera phone.

EXIF from your image:
Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS REBEL T1i
Image Date: 2009:12:26 07:22:50
Flash Used: No
Focal Length: 20.0mm
CCD Width: 1.94mm
Exposure Time: 0.800 s
Aperture: f/22.0
ISO equiv: 400
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Center Weight
Exposure: Manual
Exposure Mode: Manual
A couple of suggestions - crank up the shutter speed, crank down the ISO. Both will get you a sharper image. I suspect the meter was fooled by the bright sky but the combination of settings could be improved.

Titus, you might explain how changing the shutterspeed or the ISO results in a sharper image (apart from motion blur which is not an issue here I think).
Both parameters do nothing for the shaprness of a picture, noise reduction, yes and beter exposure, yes. But sharpness???

Still new to Lightroom but here is what I came up with from a preset I had, if you want it gone just say the word :)
Time to get out and re-shoot, have fun.

Shutter speed will help with motion blur. Bringing both into 'normal' ranges would also allow a more reasonable f-stop than f22.0. I think f8.0 would have covered the situation at 20mm, allowing an even higher shutter speed. I've read that f-stops in the f20.0 range can actually start degrading image quality.
My reasoning is that a shutter speed of 0.8s is going to produce some blur in a landscape scene, especially with animals involved. And the hot sky will have to be dealt with any way.

the defraction limit for t1i is f/7.1 when per pixel sharpness starts to degrade

Very helpful. You also mentioned bring down the ISO. Since the ISO was 400 i assume you are talking 200 or 100?
Again thanks for the advice.
