Hi Modamor. Is that a grass snake? if it was she was probably laying her eggs. Have another look and see if you find any - make a nice picture.

Nah, Charlie was a male Leucistic texas rat Snake, with a passion for burrowing :) A couple of my boyfriends corn snakes laid eggs a little while ago, the first lot are hatching this weekend, very cute little things. :) He's taken some loverly photos
