Way cool shot!

I once had to use the outdoor payphone there at in-n-out burger. It was a total dissaster, you only get a few seconds of quiet between arrivals!

Beautiful photo. I think that the sun in the background makes the plane seem ever closer than it is.

What is the deal with them? Do they pay you for your photos? I see they sell them to people...

They always seemed like a scam to me... But I would like to know...

acutally i do like a.net. its got hoards of pictures, their forums are good. but the screeners are all european dudes and some of hte spotters know each other and they know the screeners so they get prioty. they dont pay u for their pics. the only thing u pay for is if u want to use hte forum only if u want to post free to read. also they started a new feature that u can have the option to sell ur pictures. a.net isnt a scam i go on their sevral time a day to get my airline news

Well I think your photo is great!

A little soft on the left edge, wingtip and #4 engine pylon, but nothing that detracts from the impact of the pic. The exlif says you shot it at 28mm! Damn that was close! Which lens were you using?

I really like EVA Air. I take them 3-4 times a year roundtrip to see the in-laws. Always a plesant flight. I am also serriously considering applying for a job with them in the next couple of months. I first need to talk with someone about how they treat their ex-patriot pilots though...

Cool shot.

Airliners.net is ok, just a bit tough on rules. Any slight thing wrong with a shot, and they'll reject it. They only want the best quality. Which makes it feel better when you have some shots accepted. :)

I like it anyway, but what did they reject it on?
BadSoft
or
BadCenter?

Nice shot. A.net is a bit fussy about what they'll accept, though in some ways thats a good thing beacuse it allows you to improve your standards - its just frustrating at the time :-). I've uploaded a few there, but I've had more rejected though.

I've been getting pics accepted AND rejected for a year now. Only made $1.75 from sales there, but I've had dozens of emails and requests from around the world.
Been used in books, magazines, but still waiting for the big one..:D

Pics need to be 1024 by xxx, ie a good ratio size, after cropping.
Always crop first, then twiddle with levels etc, and finally unsharp mask.

Try it more like this, but this one is still a bit soft, and right wing is out of focus

I've only recently switched to centre focussing too....doh!

Here's one currently in the Anet upload queue, also taken at LAX. Well nearly, from the Avis car rental lot. We had just returned our car after our 3 week holiday (vacation). Decided to spend our last hour in California sat in the shade snapping landings.

Would be an excellent spot if you could get in without renting a car...;)
Cold drinks and restroom close at hand too.

Another good shot, John. It's painfully obvious that I'm going to need to stand a little closer to these jets if I want a great image. 400 mm and heavily cropped:

Well if you are refering to Anet standards...

A 400mm shot would only make it with minimal cropping....even with an 'L'

Or maybe a 20 megapixel camera......I wish..;)

Guess you need to jump the security fences and get closer.

I guess it's a bit fortunate at Auckland Airport, locally, this is a non cropped 400mm shot.

Now that's more like it. I was about 3 miles from the airport, right under one of the flight patterns. This bird was probably 3-5000 feet up already so even a good ladder wouldn't have helped. :)

Hey Warren, your getting some good shots on Anet..8-)

What do ya think about the new upload rules? Seems to have upset a few!

I'm not complaning, my limit gone up to 40.
