These were taken in summer of this year after i graduated high school, me and a buddy back packed Europe for 3 weeks. We went to Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Nice, Rome, Interlaken, And a few other little places where our trains stopped. Im not to happy with the pictures i got and want to go back soon. I wish i had a better lense at the time and spent a few more weeks there.

Not bad.
The use of vignette gets to be a little repetitive, as is the portrait mode of capture....but they're nice shots.
Hope your holiday was enjoyable :)

Yes. I'll comment. You need to post samples in the format most others use here, or give yourself a better URL than the one with the frog. I've used that site to upload to a site that specifically works with it, but I don't use it otherwise.

I got a nice antique vibe from the B&W at the coliseum. It could have been another decade. The other monotone is also evocative. I think you might try converting some of the others--perhaps the bicycles in the alley--I think you might have a style working for you.
Of what you've posted, mostly I find the depth of field lacking, unless you were going for that look. In which case it becomes a matter of taste. Then there's that washed out sky in narrow streets, I ran across that the first time in the Barri Gotic in Barcelona--very frustrating for me. On the other hand, since there was only sky up there, what was to lose.
I found a similar situation in Innsbruck, but, because RAW files retain so much information, I was able to recreate what the eye sees in post-processing in Photoshop. Using the magnetic selection tool, I outlined the distant back ground and altered the levels within the selected area to bring out the whole scene to near equality. Post-shoot manipulation is not my strong suit, so I show this only as an example of what can be done. In camera I shoot in neutral mode and add saturation and sharpening in post-process.
This is just an example, I'm not trying to hijack the thread:

I have visited both Rome and Amsterdam in 2008 and know that it's a bit difficult to come up with a truly unique composition that has not graced postcards and avoids cliches. I really like the Colosseum shot, I was blown away when I first saw it coming out of a small side street. The begging lady is good but it seems (seems, not saying you did) as if it has one of those "dreamy" filters applied to it. I think a harsh b/w conv. with less of a crop would have served you better. Well done overall. Danny

I also like the alley of bicycle and narrow street, I just wish you could have saved more of the sky...Maybe HDR next time..you got great textures and colors for an HDR treatment IMHO
