I just bought this flash to use with my Rebel 300D. I've had it a couple of days and since day one I haven't been able to make it work. I thought it was me that I didn't know how to set it but after talking to a friend he told me I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary with my setup. I don't know what is wrong the flash or camera. I slide in the flash and turn the knob to tighten down. Well the flash never goes off what I noticed today is that I must turn/twist or move forward or backwards the flash with my left hand and hold it for it to work. If I let go the flash doesn't work. Could it be the flash or the camera hot shoe. I will be asking my friend to borrow his 420EX till Monday but for now does anyone know what could it be??? I have already tried sliding the flash in and out a couple of times and made sure the contacts were clean still and making sure I turned the knob tight but the problem presists???

Make sure the flash is all the way forward in the hotshoe. It can be quite tight - at least my 550EX was. I had the same problem initially unti I noticed were it was in the hotshoe. Other than that I it should be pretty straight forward.
