ok, so I posted here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=154312) that I have been in a rut creatively for a while now. Things that I would shoot, just dont look right, I can shoot an entire card and not be happy with the out come. I seem to be able to see the exposure the way I want it in my head, but just not get that captured no matter what I try. So after posting I was driving home for the day thinking of all the shots that I missed Christmas this year - part due to the fact that I have not bought a flash yet and part because I just could not snap it at the time or angle.

Long story short, I came home thinking focus "Brv" focus. Then I had an idea - why focus? Try something different that you would never shoot.

So this is what I came up with - I would like you CC - please be gentle - I am already in a rut lol.

FYI - these are straight from the camera - I have not had time to PP at all, maybe with the right feedback it will drive my direction PP wise as well. All shot in manual mode, RAW, exif should be intact. If you wish to edit, please do, but be polite and let me know the work flow etc that you performed so that I can learn from you.

Fun!, but why is the BG brownish? A little too much exposure? Fixable for sure.
I have no other help as I seem to be in the same place as you. I need something fun to shoot. Something to spark me too. Good effort in trying to find something for yourself. You'll snap out of it. I always do, and usually in the wierdest ways too.
Good luck!

Thank you Chas. I am not sure why the brownish tint, light was minimum and the room is a light gray so maybe I should have under exposed a bit? I will play with it in Lightroom when I get a chance to see if I can fix it. Glad to see that I am not the only one in a funk ;-)

1 seems a bit too tight of a crop. 2 would be a more fitting title to "star light" (to me at least)

Although I do like them, I've thought of this type of shot as well but wasn't sure the type of feedback I would get. Great job!

Thank you :)

I agree - I should change the titles around. I wished that #1 was a crop - I actually shot it that close for some stupid reason lol.

I might try a few more like this before all the decorations go away for another year.

Thank you both for the reply and feedback.
