I had just finished taking a bunch of pictures of the kids and family opening presents. I set my camera on the kitchen island. My cat decided to jump from the table to the counter, knocked the camera off.
Canon 20D - Dead
Canon 17-85IS - In 2 pieces - Dead
Canon ex430 flash - busted/dead.
Don't know what to do. I can't afford to replace them. P&S I guess is what I have to use again.

Well, the original thread didn't go too well so I hope for some better luck with this thread instead.
As already discussed earlier - and a number of times in other threads - the normal home insurance isn't always too good to use for the camera gear to make sure that a claim doesn't affect the insurance at a time when it may be really needed.
Having get used to a DSLR, it is really no joy to have to switch back to a P&S. They are excellent to own, but do have their limitations.
The original thread did contain one post that was very much in the christmas spirit, and that I didn't want to disappear in all the noise:

I'm not too much into PayPal and similar, but I am willing to help out with a similar offer, if that is considered ok. If you do not feel okay with this, then I understand fully and ask for forgivenes if I'm too pushy ;)
But while a complete camera kit is a lot of money for one person, it is not a big burden if spread out over multiple persons.
And once more - If you do not feel comfortable with this, then I fully understand and ask for forgivenes.

Here's a link someone else put on the dead thread about Canon Loyalty Program:

Hope you can get something new and better from your loss. :D
Somehow I think this thread will go a bit nicer than the thread that must not be named.

The 430 is probably not salvageable for the repair cost, but odds are if none of the 17-55 glass is cracked it should be (relatively) inexpensive to repair. The 20D though, the Canon Loyalty program is going to be the way to go.
Sorry about your loss.

^^ 17-85 dude. It's still a good lens I think. My mum has one. :)

Wow, not sure what happened with the other thread lol
I got the camera working again.
Lens is still a no go. I do have my kit and a 50mm so I have something.
Flash is toast.
Thanks for the comments. Home owners has a $500 deductible and would probably raise my rates huge. Not worth it. We didn't even use it when out garage caught on fire.

Sucks. I'd still take the lens into Canon to get a repair quote. It will probably be cheaper than using insurance to cover it.
Glad your camera still works. :D

Have you considered skinning your cat?
Only kidding. That sucks but, hey, they say bad things happen in threes and you got all three out of the way in one go!

Ohh don't start. That's how the previous thread went on the wrong track. All it takes is a "joke" and you'll have a disaster.
Maybe the dude will have three threads on this topic go all crazy on him. ;)

This thread was big. What happened?
Oh well, at least you are still in good health, and anything can be repaired.
