Canon Life Size Converter

I was looking at this item to go with my 50mm f/2.5 macro lens. It sounds pretty good to me, but me being new, I was wondering if anybody out there has any rants/raves about it. I'm getting it from a shop that has always been good for me, but it is 300 USD and since i'm military and on a tight budget i was just looking for some thoughts about it.

try ebay... I just picked one up w/ a Canon 25 mm ext tube for about 180 bucks...
