I recently purchased an S30 and shot some .avi clips in a dance club. However, since there wasn't much light in the club, the video plays back very dark. It's still viewable...just dark.

Are there any settings on the camera I can use to open up the exposure? What about something I can use in "processing?" It seems that Zoombrowser can only adjust still shots, and my Photoshop Elements also seems limited. So far, all I can do is use a framegrabber and make stills from the video.

I gave a similar response to the "software forum" associated with this site. (See below, in connection with compression of avi clips.) You can use the program VirtualDub to adjust brightness (and a lot of other things) on avi clips. However, no matter how much you brighten this, it will never have the quality of a clip that you take in bright light.

"The most simple way is to down load "VirtualDub" (freeware) at http://www.virtualdub.org/

Get an education on its use through the VirtualDub forum at http://virtualdub.everwicked.com and start there with 'newbie" questions.

Not only will you be able to compress your avi clips but you can do a lot of corrections and "tweaking" of the clips. "
