Sounds like you are taking everything. That would've been my first advice.

Other than that, have fun, take lots of pictures and post a few for us here when you get back.

Not sure which particular advice you are looking for, but if you are looking for advice on what to take pictures of, I'd suggest the following:

1. Go to the Sears Tower and pay for the trip to the top of the building. The observation floor is around the 100th story in the building. Go during a non-hazy day, if you can. You can also go up at night. Take a tripod in either case. The view at night is pretty spectacular. In either case, the air traffic on final approach to O'Hare airport usually comes in from the east, off the lake, past the tower and over town. Could get some neat aircraft approach shots.

2. Make sure to go to the lake shore. Lots of parks, museums and other photogenic spots in that area.

3. Downtown shots on streets with the overhead train lines are pretty interesting, day or night.

4. The Daly Plaza area has lots of interesting photographic opportunities, such as various sculptures, etc.

Others that live in the area can probably give you more ideas. I'm just working from memory, as it's been 10 years or so since I was last there.

I forgot to add. If you go up to the Sears Tower observation deck, take a circular polarizer with you. The observation deck is indoors with full length glass windows all the way around. The CP will help cut any glare or reflections when shooting through the glass.

Don't forget to go to Navy Pier! They've got fireworks every wed and saturday night. Plus the big giant ferris wheel.
