I think you went a tiny bit too far, but I like the original shot.

The original is pretty good...would work a bit better if you leveled it.

It's Cajon Pass isn't it? Just wanted to make sure I remember correctly. We used to camp up there quite a bit, the trains going into Barstow were awesome.

in that 2nd to last one (the zoomed in/cropped) you can see 3 different BNSF Logo styles!

Hey there Redrocket. I too live in Rancho. I was up in the Cajon Pass over Christmas and took some shots as well. We were down a little from you. Here's what I got... (only one train in the three hours that we were there).

Morning sunrise.

One of the few shots I took of the train.

Nice pics. Roadbed looks a lot better than what is up on the north line.

For tilt-shift photos, it helps to have a blur close and far with the sharpest view in between.

Here's a quicky of one of your shots. I used the 'reflected' gradient for the mask. I didn't have much time to try different placements of the mask for where I wanted to keep in focus.

Nice series of photos.

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts... that's looks really cool. Almost gives it a macro/model feel (which I think it's supposed to do?). The only PP software I have right now is the Canon software, so I'm limited to my PP.
