View Full Version : SX20: How make cam fill in EXIF "Owner" field

I have bought an SX20, still experimenting with various settings. By studying the EXIF data (with IrfanView) I found the "Owner" field, which of course is empty. I know there are EXIF editors out there, which can alter the contents afterwards, but I want the camera to fill it with my name. Are there any tools which can do that? I think of a kind of firmware extractor, then edit the position, where the name would appear, and reload it into the camera. Once I had a Powershot A640, where I used a modified firmware to get RAW photos (plus some other "gimmicks" like histogram, which are now built in) and as a side effect was able to edit the "Owner" entry. The firmware was loaded from the SD card when cam was switched on and loaded on top of the built-in fw, which wasn't touched, so I always could decide, which fw to use. As far as I googled, there is no alternative fw out yet for the SX20.
Any thoughts?

ZoomBrowser, which came with the camera, will allow you to set the "Owner" field. I include my phone number along with my name in this. IIRC in the current iteration it's "Camera | Connect to Camera".

Not sure how soon a later CHDK for the SX20 will be out, but their website will have the latest.

Hi guys

Just to let you know that a beta version of CHDK for SX20 firmware v1.00f is available now for testing:

It seems that the super-fine option has been made available on CHDK-enabled SX20 as well.

But those that have a newer firmware, v1.02 (GM1.02B) such as mine, will still have to wait a while :(
