Yes, I got up this morning with intentions of attending the F 1 race here in Indy. I went back and forth, go, don't go. When I called yesterday about tickets I was told that general admission tickets were a two day ticket at $60 for Saturday and Sunday admission.

I got the canera ready last night, charged batteries and made sure all cards were clean.

Then about 10am this morning I decided to stay at home and watch it on tv.
Much to my disbelief, Michilan wanted a chicane put in turn 13 because their tires weren't safe at the high rate of speeds they currently were running.
Good luck with tires sales world wide Michilan.

Now as there are a lot of international members here on this forum I can say this F 1 is dead in the US. They had a full house the first year but, with the dominance of Schumacher year after year interest locally was very low. Who wants to go see a race when you know who will win before they even line the cars up?
This year, with Schumacher not dominating, interest was up. I, for the first time was even considering going. What has this done? It has made F 1 a laughing stock in motorsports here in Indy. I have been on the phone with a few friends, some who were thinking of going and others who were watching on TV. This is just one more reason I don't believe we will see another F 1 race at Indy and personally, I don't care.

So, do the racing in the US a favor Bernie, keep your inflated egos and boring racing on that side of the pond, we don't need you, or your drama queens.

Good rant, I can understand your fury.

Let's see what happens by 2008, and see what teams pull away, and make their own franchise.

It's a pretty sad situation overall, & michelin needs to "get a grip". :D:D I like that! ;)
Spectators don't have a lot to look forward to now. Remember the good old days when you could actually see a driver in the car? F1 will either change, or go the way of the Blower Bentley.

Pardon me for the segue...

I had the tread delaminate off of a tire two weeks ago @ 70MPH on 95 South just after going through Boston...

Explosively!

I thought I had blown the transaxel it went with such force.. and the straps of tread put HUGE dents in the side of my car.....

Yep.. you guessed it,. a Michelin RoadMaster...

Suddenly that Baby doesn't look so safe wrapped in a tire ... :(

I hope Tony George kicks F1 out of Indy. The sport as a whole needs to be punished for treating it's fans (and essentially it's funders) in such a disrespectful manner.
Although Michelin was at fault, there were many options available to rescue the situation and provide a competitive race, but the FIA and ferrari played their hand in ruining it all. big big mistake.

even so, I'd rather see F1 at Long Beach in future anyway....if it has a future in the States.

The solution I thought was the most fair was to have drivers on Michelin tires go slow through turn 13. I have M & S tires on my Altima SE, so I can't take turns as fast as I could with true performance tires. But do I ask the city to re-construct all the turns in town? No, I just drive within the limits of my equipment! :)

Heck, the teams at the back of the grid do that every race!

I was thinking of going to Le Mans this year--but by the time I decided to go, all the decent grandstands were full. With near 100 degree (F) temps, I'm glad I didn't go.

F1 died several years ago, its just taking a little while to find it's way to the mat.
Kind of like a really really bad actor who's death scene takes minutes to complete.

Bernie should be shot.

I have actually found F1 a bit more interesting this year, as now there's several contenders for the title. Even Ferrari are back in after this disaster.

It just got boring when Schumacher was 1-2 sec a lap faster than everyone else, and would often just casually race, and when needed, find another few mph! He is great, but I don't like Ferrari as a team.

McLaren has always been my favourite, and I even went to the local Bruce McLaren school, in the area the late Bruce McLaren had property and shops around. They even brought some classic McLaren cars into school, and spun them on the the school fields. Oh the good old days 10 years ago.
