Cheaper just to build your own :D
But congrats on the new gear and I too use a 1DIII for the time being.

Are you getting the i5 or i7? The i7 uses hyperthreading (8 threads) and if you use Aperture it will use all 8 threads. Adobe Lightroom can only use 4 at the moment. You also need to be prepared to control your ambient light. Otherwise you might have some glare issues. My i7 iMac renders my 5Dii raw files almost instantly with Aperture.

actually wrong. LR2 can use all 8 threads, you just need to run two or three batches at the same time.

Dude (or chick, if that's what you are), it will NOT use 8 threads when you're working on an image under OS X. It will only use 4 threads - one per core. That's one of the reasons why Aperture is faster than LR.

Exporting, it can and does using multiple batches. If not, just get Windows 7 to put on the iMac, cheaper than buying Aperture if you already have LR2 ;)
