I think the OP is asking about pictures of the moon taken during the day.
What lenses do you have? Look in the astronomy forum and see what moon shots are taken with what focal length lens..
The other thing you'll learn from the astronomy folks is the moon moves a lot more than you think. Keep this in mind when choosing your shutter speed and Aperture.
Lastly.. you have a 30D which means no live view for focusing. You'll need to either manual focus or put the selected focal point on the EDGE of the moon to hope for enough contrast to get decent autofocus.

You'll need a steady tripod; and use a remote shutter release as you will see any vibration from pushing the shutter.
