I have just joined this forum after browsing for a couple of weeks. It is easily the best one on the net.
I'm a real beginner to digital photographr. I've read a lot about creating your own workflow. It's all going over my head. How does one do this?
Please help

Sid

I did a search for 'workflow' (at the top of any page) & these might help:

And that's just from the 1st 2 pages of results. Enjoy!

Don't worry, we all have.

Come back with any specific questions if the threads PhotosGuy lists dont sort you out. It is worth spending some time sorting out a workflow that suits you and adapting someone elses is a good starting point. I doubt any of us do exactly the same.

Can i also post a request for a little help.
ive started to shoot raw with my 350d and have access to C1 and ACR (with PSCS2).
i like C1 better as i guess im more used to it but i have to save a tif and then edit it in PSCS2 then maybe save that out as a jpg for getting prints done on line so i end up with 3 files although i can then delete the jpg once ive used it.
Now i know the raw conversion parameters get saved but what can i do about the PSCS2 edits so that i can go back to the raw, convert it again to a tif and apply the same edits in PSCS2, say i f i need to convert it for web.
Or am i looking at this the wrong way?
Thanks for any help

Dave.

Web jpgs are so small that I never delete them. Why bother? Besides, they quickly remind me what's in the folder as I save then in the first tier, not in the raw & tiff folders.
Most of the time I can do so much in RSE that all I have to do in PS is crop. Resizing, ©, sharpening, & saving for the web can all be done in one action if you want to.
Only "special" files that need a Layer Mask, etc., take more time to do. Those tiffs I'll usually save. The simple ones, I might save to CD & then delete them from the HD.

Its mainly the tif's i want to get rid of.
The web stuff can be stored on smugmug as high res jpg's that i can download when i need them but if i need to get some lab prints i would like to resize the tif and apply sharpen for print and convert to Adobe RGB etc before outputing another jpg so i would again need to make any other corrections i have done in PSCS2.
